Kissinger
Did Not Break With Bush Over Iraq
What Kissinger
actually said, three days earlier in the Washington
Post, was that:
"The imminence
of proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, the
huge dangers it involves, the rejection of a viable
inspection system, the demonstrated hostility of Saddam
combine to produce an imperative for pre-emptive action."
Kissinger's opposition to pre-emptive war with Iraq
was an invention in the New York Times.
The Times,
in a belated editorial note, acknowledged that Kissinger
had ben misidentified as an opponent of pre-emptive
war.
