Who Killed Zia?

Five Theories

Theories that have been advanced  in this case include:

1. The Accident Theory.  The crash of Zia's plane was an accident.

2. The Coup Theory.  A military counter-elite induced  Zia and his top generals to fly on the C-130 to a tank demonstration. Their agents sabotaged the plane and organized the subsequent cover-up.

3. The Shi'ite Fanatic Theory.  The Shi'ite co-pilot of the plane incapacitated the pilot and then committed suicide by crashing the plane because Zia was suppressing the Shi'ite minority in Pakistan.

4. The KGB Theory.  Soviet agents sabotaged the plane because Zia's ISI was behind the guerrilla war against Soviet forces in Afghanistan.

5. The CIA Theory.  CIA agents sabotaged the plane because Zia was opposing US plans in Afghanistan.
